by reading Selma Lagerlöf’s "Nils Holgersson" in all schools. The novel will be read in another Nordic language than that of the students’ own mother tongue, or in English.

By letting students of all countries get in contact using the “E-twinning” internet platform. All involved schools will let the figure of Nils Holgersson travel virtually around and experience each school and its surroundings. Thus we intend to involve quite a big number of young people.

By creating awareness of one’s own culture as seen through the eyes of Nils Holgersson through preparing a scene (by key words) for the common theatre play. By choosing typical songs and music from one’s own country for the play. The scenery will be prepared as computer files; the costumes may show the national traditions.

By meeting students from all countries (6 from each country) at a conference place for 5 days, forming international groups of actors, choir and orchestra, learning to play the theatre scenes (improvised theatre), learning to sing in all languages and to play the music of all countries. Each group will be led by an instructor.

By presenting the show rehearsed during the workshops. The theatre show transports many aspects of the countries’ cultural identities like significant scenes characteristic of the participants’ countries, music, dance and songs from all countries. During the show Selma Lagerlöf’s Nils Holgersson travels through all the participants’ countries in a modern interpretation.

By informing the media and students of other schools and inviting them to the show.

By documentation of the show as DVD which will be spread in all countries.

By continuously evaluating our project to improve it, staying in contact through E mail and chat.
